Brenda has practiced exclusively in family law since she was admitted to the California State Bar in 2010, including but not limited to divorce, custody and visitation, child and spousal support, property characterization and division, actions under the Uniform Parentage Act, actions under the Domestic Violence Prevention Act, premarital agreements, issues involving interstate and foreign family law matters, and appeals. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the California State Bar, San Francisco County Bar Association (Family Law Section and Barrister’s Club), and Queen’s Bench. She volunteers with the San Francisco County Superior Court’s Volunteer Attorney of the Day program.
Brenda has over 18 years of experience in family law, previously as a senior paralegal for HFLP and now as an associate attorney with the firm. While working full-time during the day, she attended law school at night and earned her J.D. from San Francisco Law School in 2010, where she graduated at the top of her class and received Witkin Awards for Academic Excellence in community property, contracts, criminal law, remedies, corporations, wills and trusts, criminal procedure, federal taxation, and the Uniform Commercial Code.
Brenda earned a B.A. in Philosophy (1996) and a B.A. in English Literature (1996) from the University of Washington and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing (2004) from San Francisco State University.
